Light poles are an enormous part of each city’s landscape. Drive down a city street
and watch as pole after pole comes into your view. Each light pole has an oval
hole—usually near the base—designed to allow service technicians access to
electrical wires. A metal plate covers the hole—initially. But many metal
plates get stolen or corroded, leaving potentially deadly wires exposed.
